New corporate plan to guide city's bold future
Gold Coast City Council today endorsed its new Draft Corporate Plan for public exhibition.
Sustainable City Future Committee Chair Cr Peter Young said the existing Corporate Plan was due to expire in the current financial year, and the new plan would be Council's most important corporate planning tool over the next five years.
"The corporate plan is the most important document that Council creates - it sets our direction and objectives as a city," said Cr Young.
"This new draft plan is unique in that its foundation is based on the views of 11,000 Gold Coast residents who contributed during the Bold Future community consultation.
"It sets out the action up to 2014 that Council will take to deliver the Bold Future vision for our city, guiding the implementation of key programs and projects, city planning and our corporate framework."
"The plan also contains key focus areas framed to mirror the six Bold Future themes recently adopted by Council and these identify outcomes to be progressed by 2014."
"We will be assessing progress against the outcomes in the new plan on a quarterly and annual basis and periodically review the plan to ensure it remains effective."
"I urge people to review the document during the exhibition period and make their submissions to us."
The Draft Corporate Plan will be on public display from 8 April to 8 May 2009 at Council’s seven customer service centres at Nerang, Surfers, Burleigh Heads, Coolangatta, Southport, Palm Beach and Broadbeach, as well as all Council libraries and electronically at www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au.
Council will consider a report on community feedback received during this period as well as any proposed changes to the plan, prior to adoption.
