"My vision for the future of our city is that our children will be able to enjoy the pristine beaches and easy-pace lifestyle that we all enjoy living here on the Gold Coast.

As Chief Lifeguard of Gold Coast City Council’s Lifeguard service, my team and I patrol sections of our city’s beaches seven days a week, which is no small task given that our city has 70 kilometres of golden sands.

Over the years I have developed a healthy respect for ‘Mother Nature’ and the effects she can have on our natural environment, especially our city’s foreshore areas and beaches.

When extreme weather sets in our beaches bare the brunt of huge waves, king tides and strong winds. That’s when you realise just how fragile our natural environment is and how important it is that we protect it as best we can.

By protecting our natural environment, future generations of ‘Gold Coasters’ will inherit one of the best places in the world to play and stay with some of the best beaches ever seen."
