BOLD FUTURE is the greatest opportunity the Gold Coast community has ever had to shape the future of our city. Bold Future will develop a blueprint for the Gold Coast for the next three decades.

The BOLD FUTURE project will take place during the next 12 months. We are now in the research phase and are seeking community input to develop an agreed way forward for the city in each of the focus areas – energy, water, beaches, culture, economy, environment, transport, land use and community.

Every member of the Gold Coast community is eligible to take part in BOLD FUTURE. BOLD FUTURE is the greatest opportunity that Gold Coast residents have ever had to have a say in the future they want for the Gold Coast.

BOLD FUTURE is a Gold Coast City Council project but every member of the community owns it and the outcomes of BOLD FUTURE will impact all of us for the next three decades.

Your input and that from other members of the community, will be given to an independent market research firm to collate. The collated information will then be passed to an Advisory Committee who will assist in putting together a recommended action plan for our city. Relevant actions will then be fed into the Gold Coast City Council Corporate Plan and the strategies that will shape the Gold Coast’s future in all the theme areas.

Council’s vision for this city is that it be sustainable – economically, socially and environmentally - for our children and our children’s children. The Gold Coast City Council has been working towards a sustainable lifestyle, economy and environment for the city since 1998.

New challenges have been identified based on work that has been done in the past and the work that is being currently done. These challenges include climate change and affect our energy future, our water future, our beaches future, our cultural future, our economic future, our environmental future, our transport future, our land use future and our community future.

The challenges must be met if the city is to have a sustainable future.

The first step is to fully understand the impact on residents of current climate, technology and social trends. Through BOLD FUTURE we are taking that information to the community and asking them to give us their preferred future for the city.

Your ideas are important to Gold Coast City Council to shape the city we live in. Your input will be given to a market research firm to collate then be passed to an Advisory Committee which will assist in putting together an action plan for our city.
